Employment: Support Worker I
Forward House regularly hires for Direct Support Professional positions including regularly scheduled part-time and casual hours. Applicants should note that shifts may include weekends and holidays as well as Monday to Friday. Positions may include afternoons, days, sleepovers and awake nights. Employees may work 8-44 hours per week as per their availability.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Supporting individuals to enrich their own quality of life in a manner that is most empowering and least restrictive
- Providing health supports and monitoring including administration of medications
- Providing individuals with counselling and behavioural supports
- Assisting individuals in daily living skills (i.e. menu planning, meal preparation, budgeting skills, personal hygiene, etc.)
- Creating opportunities that will assist individuals to develop and maintain meaningful relationships
- Providing supports re. recreation, leisure, volunteerism and employment.
- Respecting the worth, rights, privileges and privacy of each individual
- Ensuring a safe and healthy environment for both staff and individuals in their home and in the community
Qualifications and Skills
- Some work or other experience in the field of developmental disabilities preferred.
- Developmental Support Worker diploma OR training (ie. students); or
- A related university degree or college diploma (Bachelor’s, CYW, SSW, nursing) is preferred
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and to problem solve
- Current vulnerable sector check
- Crisis Prevention, First Aid/CPR and/or a willingness to participate in further training
- Ability to speak French, Arabic or American Sign Language may be an asset

District Lead
As Forward House of London grows, we welcome you to apply to a new and exciting position. The District Lead will assist the manager in overseeing direct’s care staff and support individuals with developmental disabilities. As this is a new and evolving role the exact duties are a work in progress but we are excited to work together and develop this role.
Position Overview:
As a District Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care, providing training and support, and helping to implement individualized care plans. Your leadership will contribute to an environment that fosters growth, independence, and a sense of belonging for those we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Team Members: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of direct care staff, ensuring that all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Support Care Plans: Collaborate and assist teams at each location to implement and monitor individualized care plans for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Training and Development: Provide ongoing training to team members on best practices in care and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations. Follow new employees through orientation and onboarding to ensure that they understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Promote Person-Centered Care: Advocate for the needs, preferences, and choices of individuals, ensuring that they are respected and valued.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and ensure that services provided are in compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with all Teams in your district: Work closely with all departments to ensure the integration of services and a holistic approach to care.
- Provide Crisis Management Support: Offer guidance and support during challenging situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of both staff and individuals.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Support Worker position.
- Education: University Degree or DSW Diploma or acceptable equivalent
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, families, and individuals in care.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience motivating a team, with a focus on fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Familiarity with Quality Assurance Measures is an asset.
- Technology: Experience with AIMS, Passport/TIMMS, Google Suite.
- Valid G Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with behavior management and crisis intervention.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities.
- Passion for working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Support Worker 1
Forward House supports individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes. We offer our services 24 hours a days 7 days a week with 8 hours shifts and some shorter shifts. Employees are expected to assist with daily living needs including personal care, Preparing meals and administering necessary medications. As well there is an expectation to support the individuals when they are out in the community for appointments, errands and other activities. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma as well as experience in the field with a preference for candidates with a post secondary education in human services.
